چکیده

the conditions for the refinement of clarified sugarcane juice, including temperature (50o, 60o and 70oc) and pressure (0, 0.5, 1 and 1.5 bars) by micro-filtration membrane technology were investigated. the raw sugarcane juice was initially pre-filtrated with lime and then the juice obtained (clarified juice) processed using a ceramic micro-filter mem-brane (0.2 micrometer). the characteristics investigated included brix, polarity (sucrose percent), turbidity, color and purity. the results showed that the effects of different proc-ess conditions with micro-filtration on reduction of turbidity and color were significant at probably

Dead-end filtration of natural organic matter: experimental evidence of critical conditions

Development of membranes technologies led industrials and researchers to focus on the way to optimize filtration processes in terms of quality and costs of production. In this way, this paper presents a study about determination of low fouling operating conditions in dead-end ultrafiltration of natural organic matter which leads to the definition of sustainable conditions for filtration by limi...

Optimum Conditions for Effective Decomposition of Toluene as VOC Gas by Pilot-Scale Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer

Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) is one of the best solutions for removal of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) from industrial processes. In the RTO, VOC in a raw gas are usually decomposed at 950-1300 K and the combustion heat of VOC is recovered by regenerative heat exchangers charged with ceramic honeycombs. The optimization of the treatment of VOC leads to the reduction of fuel addition t...

A Dead End for MicroRNAs

Dead end (Dnd1) is an RNA-binding protein that mediates germ-cell viability and suppresses the formation of germ-cell tumors. Kedde et al. (2007) now provide evidence that Dnd1 mediates these effects by counteracting microRNA-mediated silencing of mRNAs.

Date juice decolourised by ultra-filtration and its use with stevioside sweetener in beverage formulation

Date juice was treated by cross- flow ultra-filtration with molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of 5 kDa. Optimized levels of feed brix, TMP and operation time were determined as 47.13, 82.11 psi and 30 min, respectively. Under such conditions, 80.94% decolourisation and 97.78 % turbidity reduction were obtained while loss of glucose and fructose were estimated to be only 3.49% and 9.62%, respectiv...

MICRO-EDM FOR MICRO-CHANNEL FABRICATION ON NONCONDUCTIVE ZrO2 CERAMIC

In this study, microelectro-discharge (micro-ED) milling of nonconductive ZrO2ceramicsis investigated using a Cu tool electrode in kerosene dielectric. An adhesive Cu foil is firmly attached on the workpiece to initiate the sparks. After the machining of Cu foil, an electrically conductive carbonic layer is formed on the ceramic workpiece disassociating the kerosene dielectric, which allows mic...
